Shade Innovations (SI) announced the expansion of its award-winning KAOS outdoor shade system to include integrated projection screens designed for high-performance viewing in challenging outdoor environments. The KAOS Outdoor Projection Screens combine shade and projection capabilities in one system, engineered to maintain image stability in windy conditions.

The KAOS system — short for “Kick Ass Outdoor Shades” — as become a flagship solution for outdoor AV applications. The new model incorporates a projection screen fabric directly into the motorized shade tracks, minimizing screen movement and distortion caused by wind. According to SI, the screen offers up to ten times the wind resistance of conventional outdoor projection surfaces.

Built for all-weather performance, the KAOS system can endure wind speeds up to 110 mph. The retractable screen design allows it to disappear when not in use, preserving sightlines and complementing modern architectural aesthetics. Available in widths up to 24 feet, the screens use outdoor-rated acoustically transparent fabric that enables clear projected images while allowing sound to pass through for front projection setups with concealed speakers.

The system offers additional benefits such as privacy, insect protection and thermal insulation. Users can choose from box or pocket cassette enclosures in various finishes, and the product integrates fully with the broader Shade Innovations ecosystem.
