Metra Home Debuts Passive HDMI Cables
Metra Home Theater Group announces their new Velox Passive HDMI Cables — spec’d to send 18 Gbps data for 8 meters’ standalone and up to 21 meters with the HDM-GA1 amplifier. The pre-cut cable is available in various lengths and uses their so-called Quiksilver Transmission Line that supposedly support 18 Gbps, 4K/60, 4:4:4 and HDR transmission for 8 meters — and it can be used with their Gigabit Accelerator (HDM-GA1) to transmit up to 21 meters at a full 18 Gbps.
VELOX UHD cables incorporate a new version of a symmetrical HDCP and EDID rise time accelerator for both the data and clock lines on the I2C bus (the Display Data Channel). This eliminates EDID errors and, because this repair is bidirectional, ensures that the HDCP handshaking occurs reliably.
