Yves Trelohan, Senior VP of HELAV (Home Electronic Luxury Audio Video), speaks with me about Auro Technologies hardware division, Storm. Episode 97: Torus Power ISE 2017 (Isolation Solutions Europe)

Kevin Main, President of Torus Power, speaks with me, yet again, about the upcoming Integrated Systems Europe show, and the solutions they intend on showing there. We also talk about, in traditional AV Insider fashion, a few things that aren’t announced yet, and a few easter eggs about the roadmap for Torus in the coming months. We discuss the need for automatic voltage regulation for AV gear, the unique approach of power isolation via Torus’ own in-house made toroids, and some it’s 1 year anniversary as it’s own company, since it separated from Plitron Power. All this and more, on this episode of AV Insider.

Episode 574: Discussion with InFocus CMO Brady Bruce – When Will Collaboration Be the Norm?

I caught up with InFocus CMO, Brady Bruce, and, in addition to talking about his ISE impressions, I asked him when he thought Collaboration Boards, like his Mondopad, will become the norm – rather than the upgrade – to a meeting room. I asked him when he thought we’d hit the tipping-point – his response was candid.

Episode 573: A Conversation with Nureva’s Nancy Knowlton

I had a chance to followup, post ISE, with one of my favorite industry thought leaders, Nureva CEO, Nancy Knowlton, today and we not only talked about their ISE 2017 experience – and what she thought was the most important benefit of the show for her – but, I also posed the question: “How can we accelerate the implementation and adoption of collaboration spaces?” Her answer might surprise you as it really has nothing to do with products or technologies.

And, of course, if you want to see (or read) all the Nureva coverage from ISE, just head on over to the ISE microsite.

Episode 570: ISE Special Videocast: Prysm Is Making Their Software Availabile on Third-Party Hardware

Prysm’s Visual Workplace is about to be available to non-Prysm hardware. And, in their booth at ISE, they’ll even be demoing it on third-party display products. This continues Prysm’s efforts to move away from being just a hardware provider and more into the services arena of providing business solutions. The software will be SaaS with seat licenses. But, ISE will include a totally new user-interface launch and wireless video sharing for remote users – and it will all be demo’d in their ISE stand in Hall 11 stand B130.

Prysm’s CMO, Paige O’Neill joined Gary on this special ISE edition videocast where she talked about all their ISE launches and gave us a glimpse of their new interface.

Episode 569: InFocus Heads to ISE to Launch 4K Mondopad Ultra and ConX Conferencing System Into EMEA

How do you make the InFocus Mondopad better? Up it to 4K resolution, of course. The new Mondopad Ultra is a 4K resolution version of their Mondopad collaboration system that ups the videoconferencing quality as well as adds native resolution content display capabilities. InFocus’ CMO, Brady Bruce, joined Gary on today’s podcast to talk about the new 70” and 85” 3840 x 2160 resolution Mondopad Ultras as well as talk about the ConX Wall and ConX Exec Videoconferencing and visualization systems and what differentiates them. InFocus will be in Hall 2 stand A52 at ISE next week.

Episode 567: ISE Special Videocast: The Panacast 2 Demo — This Could convince You Not to Use a PTZ Camera Again

I did a live, real-time demo of the new Altia Systems Panacast 2 camera today. It was amazing – and, the best part about this is that this is a new product. The Panacast 2 is designed to be a one, automatic replacement of a PTZ camera in VTC and UCC installs. Integrated with over 30 patents and an amazing algorithm that is automatically processing what the room looks like, who’s in the room and who is talking, the patented Panacast 2 totally replaces the need for a PTZ camera in ANY Huddle space and, dare I say, in nearly any meeting room. I promise you that this is worth watching!

Episode 566: Panacast 2 Is the Future of UCC Conferencing

The Altia Systems Panacast 2 is the ultimate UCC conference camera – what to know why? Listen to this podcast that Gary had today with Aurangzeb Khan President and CEO of Altia Systems, so that you understand the basics and then come back to rAVe Pubs tomorrow and check out the real-time demo that Gary did using the Panacast 2 camera!

Episode 565: ISE Special Videocast: InFocus Demos Mondopad in Real Time on rAve RADIO

There are a plethora of all-in-one interactive, flat-panel conferencing solutions out there — InFocus’ Mondopad was the first. And, they’re up against heavyweights like Google, Cisco, Microsoft and Sharp, now. Big brands.

Yet, InFocus says the Mondopad is still the most universal and easiest to use. So, here’s a real-time demo that includes on-the-fly, far-site connectivity, an explanation (and use) of every feature on the Mondopad and a demo of their whiteboarding, their annotation functionality, their touch-sensititvy and how quick it is to move from app to app. All, in real time and on Skype!

InFocus’ Abigail Rath handles this demo perfectly.

InFocus will be at ISE doing live demos in Hall 2 stand A52.

Episode 564: ISE Special Videocast: Bose Professional Debuts New Audio Conferencing Line on rAVe RADIO

Bose Professional has been in audio for 50+ years. But, they’ll use ISE next week in Amsterdam to launch themselves into a totally new market – audio conferencing. ISE will see the debut of their ControlSpace EX Conferencing Solution – a legacy and Dante-enabled audio conferencing processor for meeting rooms. Gary was joined on his podcast today, on a special videocast, by Bose’s Rob Kosman Manager of Global Events and Applications, and he took the time to explain the philosophy behind the new ControlSpace audio conferencing line as well as what differentiates it from the plethora of audio conferencing processors in the commercial AV space today.

Also, ISE will see the EMEA debut of the DeltaQ Array of loudspeakers, originally shown at InfoComm 2016 in Las Vegas – you can see a video we shot of that product line at (InfoComm video here) or you can watch Gary’s InfoComm 2016 (booth tour video here).

For all you REGULAR listeners of rAVe Radio out there, hopefully you enjoyed another opinion-packed issue!

For those of you NEW to rAVe, you just read how we are – we are 100 percent opinionated. We not only report the news and new product stories of the ProAV and HomeAV industries, but we stuff the articles full of our opinions. That may include (but is not limited to) whether or not the product is even worth looking at, challenging the manufacturers on their specifications, calling a marketing-spec bluff and suggesting ways integrators market their products better. But, one thing is for sure, we are NOT a trade publication that gets paid for running editorial or product stories. Traditional trade publications get paid to run product stories – that’s why you see what you see in most of the pubs out there. We are different: we run what we want to run and NO ONE is going to pay us to write or say anything good (or bad).

To send me feedback, don’t reply to this newsletter. Instead, write directly to me at gary@ravepubs.com or for editorial ideas, Editor-in-Chief Sara Abrons at sara@ravepubs.com.

A little about me: I graduated from Journalism School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (where I am adjunct faculty). I’ve been in the AV industry since 1987 where I started with Extron and eventually moved to AMX. So, I guess I am an industry veteran (although I don’t think I am that old). I have been an opinionated columnist for a number of industry publications and in the late 1990s I started the widely read KNews eNewsletter (the first in the AV market) and also created the model for and was co-founder of AV Avenue, which is now known as InfoComm IQ. rAVe [Publications] has been around since 2003, when we launched our original newsletter, rAVe ProAV Edition.

Everything we publish is Opt-in – we spam NO ONE! rAVe ProAV Edition is our flagship ePublication with what we believe is a reach of virtually everyone in the ProAV market. rAVe HomeAV Edition, co-published with CEDIA and launched in June 2004, is, by far, the largest ePub in the HomeAV market. We added rAVe Rental [and Staging] in December 2007, rAVe ED [Education] in May 2008 and then rAVe DS [Digital Signage] in June 2009. We added rAVe GHGav [Green, Healthcare & Government AV] in August 2010 and rAVe HOW [House of Worship] in August 2012. rAVe Radio, our podcasts, were launched in 2012. You can subscribe to any of those publication or see ALL our archives by going to: https://www.ravepubs.com
