“Heralds of Gospel” choose K-array in Brazil

phpgmGR0FPMSeptember 2014 — Since their creation, K-array systems have become an important tool within Houses of Worship. The speakers not only hide within the beauty of these architectural masterpieces but the clarity of sound projects directly to the audience super effectively.
Founded by Bishop João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, “Arautos do Evangelho” are an International Association dating back to the 1960s when a group of young Catholics from São Paulo, Brazil, led by João Scognamiglio Clá Días, Pedro Paulo de Figueiredo and Carlos Alberto Soares Corrêa used to meet to discuss, reflect and pray together. This experience, which continued for several decades, and involved other people, gradually led them to the desire to strive for Christian perfection and to proclaim the Gospel. In response to John Paul II’s appeal to the lay faithful to set out boldly along the path of the new evangelisation, they founded the Heralds of the Gospel Association which was canonically established in 1999 by the Bishop of Campo Limpo, and within a few years spread to several other countries.
In their constant pursuit for perfection, the priests of the “Heralds of Gospel” Arautos do Evangelho chose K-array for voice and music at the magnificent “Auditório da Basílica Nossa Senhora do Rosário” situated in Caieiras, São Paulo where they developed a new auditorium.
Gobos do Brasil designed the audio system at the new auditorium. They chose K-array especially as the speakers can blend into the architecture, out of sight but equally it was important that the speakers voice was clear and pure without the fear of feedback or the frustrations of not being heard.
Valdinei “Jaba” manager of audio at Gobos do Brazil explained “Father Hernan advised my team and I with the design of the audio at the new auditorium which is beautiful in architecture but the sound would be reflected from a number of areas. This was a challenging task for us, the reflections.”
“In order to achieve a high level of speech intelligibility we opted for the K-array Python’s KP52, in particular the KP102 systems which can produce from 100Hz to 20Hz and a vertical coverage of 7 degrees which is an important setup for this environment especially since the voice projects forward and accuracy is vital to the perfect clarity. With this setting we can minimise the reflections by directing the sound so precisely to the audience. Only with K-array can you achieve this fine balance that in my opinion is true sound, just as we were made to hear it.”
Gobos do Brasil built an audio design for the new auditorium using 4 x KP102, 2 x KMT18s and a KA40 for the frontal PA system. 2 x KP52s and a KA7 for the delay all accompanied by 4 x KRM33 monitors for the stage.
