Latest headlines: Scott Tiner on the possibilities for AI in AV, Sara Abrons on trends she noticed from ISE 2023 after watching 1,700 videos

Scott Tiner is back in this newsletter, talking about the possibilities (there are endless) for AI in AV. Here’s my thing: He wrote about ChatGPT in January, and I’ve been extremely wary of it. I don’t want AI to take my job! But I was framing my thinking the wrong way. Instead of thinking, “how can AI do my job better than I can,” why wasn’t I thinking, “how can I become more comfortable using AI in my day-to-day job?” ChatGPT can’t write a column for me, but it can help me organize my thoughts into an outline to improve my flow! But ChatGPT is just the tip of the iceberg. How else can AI improve our jobs and industry? Read more here.

We’re also featuring a column from Sara Abrons, who recently watched and titled (with the help of a few others) an incredible 1,700 ISE 2023 product videos to bring you the latest and greatest from the world’s largest ProAV event.

ChatGPT wrote that second paragraph, by the way. It just needed a few edits from yours truly. It has yet to surpass the need for an editor!

P.S. We’re halfway through with LAVNCH WEEK 7, which means you have two more days to be able to join and earn up to 5 CTS RUs! Join us for digital signage day tomorrow, and/or for ProAV day Thursday! Find out more information here.

Enjoy!

COLUMNS

+ AI Has Endless Possibilities for AV [Scott Tiner]

With this column, I want to focus more on the concept of artificial intelligence in general and what the future is going to look like. Let’s start with a definition of artificial intelligence. The Oxford Dictionary defines artificial intelligence as “the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.” In AV, the concept of something that “normally requires human intelligence” is where we will find the power.

+ ISE 2023 From Across the Pond: A Detailed, In-Depth Look at Trends From the Show [Sara Abrons]

Since I didn’t go to the show, I also didn’t really discuss the buzz on the show floor with anyone there or formulate opinions based on what other people thought or on what I heard in press conferences and events. Every insight I’ll talk about here is based exclusively on what was said in the videos recorded by the rAVe team. Here’s what I noticed.
