Latest headlines: The latest on Crestron and Aurora, Scott Tiner on whether the supply chain shortages will change AV, plus news from Extron

September 15, 2022 | Volume: 15 | Issue: 18

Not to continually bring up the supply chain, but unfortunately, that’s where we’re at right now. I’m sure some of you have seen the conversation on LinkedIn that I mentioned in the previous newsletter, all due to an email from Aurora that said its VPX product is the “solution for Crestron NVX lead time issues.” While Aurora is not the only company that has sent out emails like this, Crestron sent the company a cease-and-desist order. To find out more about this and how both companies are moving forward, check out this story.

Also, Scott Tiner takes a step back, and wonders whether we will ever catch back up after all the delays. What do you think?

Enjoy!

COLUMNS

+ Crestron Responds to Aurora’s Latest Marketing Email [Steph Beckett]

You might remember the conversation that took #AVtweep LinkedIn by storm last month, all stemming from a marketing email from Aurora Multimedia. Crestron responded by issuing a cease-and-desist order. Aurora then sent out a second marketing email. Crestron responded Wednesday morning and EVP Global Marketing Brad Hintze joined the latest episode of rAVe [TV].

+ Will Supply Chain and Inventory Problems Change AV? [Scott Tiner]

What this thread got me thinking today, however, is about how companies are surviving this time period. From all the discussions I have with my peers, it feels like manufacturers are able to provide about 25% of what we would be getting prior to March 2020. Most troubling in my mind though is the catch-22 in which manufacturers find themselves. If a company is struggling to build its product because its supply chain is unstable, when will that ever catch up?
