SNA Displays and BBI Engineering partnered to provide LED display technology for three exhibits at the newly built World Heritage Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The exhibits were conceived by G&A, a creative firm specializing in transformative experience design. Through dynamic video technology, each display integrates traditional imagery and color to enhance the visitor experience.

Located next to Mission Marque Plaza, the 6,000-square-foot World Heritage Center is part of the City of San Antonio’s broader initiative to develop a community hub. According to G&A, the center acts as a “gateway to history, culture, and community,” blending storytelling, architecture and technology to honor the heritage of the San Antonio Missions.

BBI Engineering managed the installation and AV design for the digital components, selecting SNA Displays’ BRILLIANT Interior LED video technology for all three exhibits.

“These creative and beautifully designed applications of LED video are a testament to the potential impact of this display technology,” said Richard Hill, director of sales for museums and themed entertainment at SNA Displays. “All digital screens tell a story, but here we are able to help people engage with their history and culture in a meaningful way.”

Three Immersive Installations

The first exhibit, Portals to the Missions, features three LED screens built into engraved wooden panels designed to evoke traditional Spanish Mission archways. The main display measures 12 feet, 5 inches tall by 6 feet, 6 inches wide, flanked by two 6-foot, 6-inch by 3-foot, 11-inch screens. The panels, etched with era-specific designs, include built-in speakers for a multisensory effect.

The second and third exhibits, collectively called Evocative Objects, are mounted on the outer walls of walk-in immersive displays. These 1.2 mm pixel-pitch screens are partially masked with artistic wooden overlays shaped into motifs like a diamond and a quatrefoil, a symbol often seen in historic church architecture.

The BRILLIANT Interior series from SNA Displays supports creative flexibility with multiple cabinet sizes and pixel-perfect right angles, enabling designers to build unconventional shapes and curved surfaces that fit seamlessly into immersive environments.
