Marantz has released two new products for home theater enthusiasts: the AV 20 AV preamplifier and the AMP 20 power amplifier. Together, the units offer a scalable, high-performance option for immersive, multi-channel audio and video setups.
The AV 20 is built around Analog Devices’ SHARC dual-core DSP chipset and 32-bit two-channel DACs, designed for precise decoding and jitter reduction. The unit supports a wide range of audio formats, including Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced, DTS:X Pro, and AURO-3D.
Marantz says the AV 20 is aimed at users looking to future-proof their setups. It features seven HDMI inputs supporting 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video, as well as a high-resolution user interface for setup and control. It also supports Dirac Live Room Correction and Dirac Live Bass Control, available as optional upgrades.
The unit offers 13.4 channels of output via RCA or XLR, using Marantz’s HDAM SA-3 preamp stage. It also includes HEOS multi-room audio integration and multiple digital and analog inputs, making it suitable for a range of installation types — from compact media rooms to dedicated theaters.
Paired with the AV 20 is the AMP 20, a 12-channel amplifier delivering 200 watts per channel (8 ohms, 1kHz, THD 0.05% with two channels driven). The amp allows for bridged-tied-load (BTL) configuration, supporting up to six channels at 400 watts. Alternatively, it can be used to bi-amp up to six speakers. Both XLR and RCA inputs are supported.
The AMP 20 can function alongside other Marantz components, such as the AV 10 preamplifier or the CINEMA 30 system. For setups that demand more power, users can opt for the 16-channel AMP 10 instead.
