Lutron introduced new products to its Athena commercial control system, including smaller architectural downlights, new wireless keypad styles, and an updated dashboard. Athena is the latest generation system from Lutron, designed to simplify lighting and shading control while enhancing architectural flexibility.
New features include:
- Ketra and Rania D2 Downlights: The newly launched D2 architectural downlights offer Ketra’s full-spectrum light and Rania’s dynamic white light in a compact, two-inch-aperture form factor. Wirelessly controlled, the D2 downlights reduce control wiring and free up valuable closet space.
- Sunnata Keypad: The Sunnata family now includes a retrofit-ready wireless keypad for Athena systems. Designers can choose from a range of Sunnata devices—dimmer, switch, fan control, keypad, and hybrid keypad—offering more style and control flexibility. The hybrid keypad combines dimmer and keypad functions into one device, eliminating the need for dimming panels and streamlining installation by reducing electrical closet clutter.
- Enhanced Lutron Dashboard Control: The updated dashboard gives facility managers a single-pane-of-glass interface for system control. It allows management of lighting, shading, and building data analytics from one unified platform.
These updates, combined with the Athena wireless node—a coin-sized, integrated fixture control—aim to simplify system design and implementation. Lutron’s Natural Show capability further enhances the user experience by automatically syncing interior lighting with the sun’s natural progression throughout the day, while still allowing for manual override and a “resync” feature for custom scene setting and daylight optimization.
