For 18 years, the University of Washington Tacoma has standardized its AV infrastructure with Extron switching, distribution and control technology across more than 115 learning spaces. Continuing this commitment, the university’s AV team selected Extron AV systems for Milgard Hall, a three-story, 55,000-square-foot facility and the first new-construction building on the 46-acre campus, which is otherwise composed of renovated century-old brick warehouses that reflect Tacoma’s railroad freight terminal history.

“Milgard Hall landed on our drawing board at just the right time. We took everything we’d learned while upgrading the AV systems in the historic buildings on the Tacoma campus and applied that experience to this brand-new teaching facility,” said Paul Lovelady, manager of media services at UW Tacoma. “Modern Extron AV systems deliver the collaborative capabilities that were a key design goal for this unique and beautiful structure. We’re pretty excited about the way it turned out.”

Milgard Hall includes a range of educational spaces, such as classrooms, laboratories, breakout rooms and a 120-seat High Impact Practices (HIPS) seminar venue. The Extron AV systems implemented in Milgard Hall include:

By integrating Extron AV solutions throughout Milgard Hall, UW Tacoma has enhanced teaching and collaboration capabilities, ensuring that the new facility meets the university’s educational and technological goals.
