Clear-Com’s IP Transceivers are becoming the go-to solution for professional theater productions, with major shows in London’s West End, Broadway and touring circuits adopting the technology to meet the growing demands of live performance.
Recent productions such as Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Back to the Future and MJ the Musical in London, along with Shucked and & Juliet on U.S. tours, are among the high-profile shows now using Clear-Com’s IP Transceivers.
A key factor fueling the shift is the ability of each transceiver to support up to 10 FreeSpeak II digital wireless beltpacks, offering the same density as other leading systems while surpassing the limitations of older E1-based hardware.
“IP Transceivers are now our preferred transceiver for Arcadia Central Station,” said Russell Godwin of Gareth Owen Sound, the award-winning design firm behind some of theater’s biggest productions.
By using standard IP networks instead of specialized cabling, productions can scale faster during technical rehearsals and adapt to complex venue layouts. The system also enhances wireless range and roaming, integrates Dante audio for streamlined design, and connects easily to remote production elements via LQ Series.
“As the industry adopts more IP-native workflows, we’re seeing a strong movement tow
ard tools that are not only flexible, but intuitive to scale,” said Ben Turnwell, Clear-Com’s Regional Sales Manager for the UK, Ireland, and Israel. “The 10-beltpack-per-transceiver spec has been a key selling point for West End Theatrical Productions in London. We want to make sure everyone understands this system is just as capable, if not more, than anything else on the market.”
At the core of many setups is Clear-Com’s Arcadia Central Station, which combines wired, wireless, Dante and analog audio in a single unit. Paired with FreeSpeak’s strong performance in challenging RF environments, the solution gives production teams the confidence that communication will remain clear and reliable from curtain up to curtain call.
