February 26, 2019 | Volume: 16 | Issue: 4

Welcome to another issue of rAVe HomeAV! We just returned, as you likely know, from the giant ISE show — you can see all our coverage in one place here. It includes over 1550 videos (yes, we shot 1,550 new product videos in four days), 1,200 photos of the show floor, 74 podcasts and 450+ new product news stories. And, this was a record year for HomeAV integrators — ironically, however, most checked out the UCC hall and the digital signage hall.

But why? Well, those two segments of the ProAV market are 100 percent networked. And, the HomeAV market is 100 percent networked. So, this is an easy transition to make going from the HomeAV world to UCC (Unified Communications) and Digital Signage segments of the ProAV market.

Back to residential stuff: A familiar name in projectors is back — InFocus launched a new line of home theater projectors — you and see that story below — and Control4 built the cutest smart tiny-home I’ve ever seen. We detail that, too.

I hope you’ll consider connecting with me on LinkedIn — and giving me feedback on the type of stories you’d like to see from us. Just click on my name below!

Oh, one more thing: If you are interested in checking out the digital signage or UCC markets, consider subscribing to our newsletters that target those markets — rAVe DS and rAVe UCC. You can subscribe to both here.

+ Are You Profiting From Your Labor? [Lee Distad]

When consulting with dealers, I like to use the analogy that labor is no different from inventory: You need to know what you’ve got, what it costs and you can’t let it sneak out the door unpaid.
