Our top story for this month is what we know about the new Sharp 8K display — it’s finally shipping. Digital signage has a lot of opportunities to use 8K as more products continue to come out. Considering this is a 70″ model, it may be worth investing in one. Oh, and in case you didn’t know, the upcoming 2020 Japan Olympics will be live broadcasted in 8K, thanks to an agreement between Sony, Panasonic and broadcast station NHK. If you decide to buy one, let us know what you think!

We also just returned from CEDIA Expo. It’s a residential show, but there were actually a good number of “light commercial” products shown there, such as for bars and restaurants, and we definitely saw some digital signage stuff. If those types of networks are in your wheelhouse, you might want to check it out. All our live coverage is on our CEDIA MicroSite here.

You might also know we’re based in North Carolina. We weathered Hurricane Florence just fine, but our Carolina coasts were not so lucky and are facing a tough recovery. If you’re so inclined, please consider donating money, food, in-kind items or blood. Here is Charity Navigator’s guide to donating for victims of Hurricane Florence.
