Happy Friday, #AVtweeps!

Scott Tiner touches on social media and how it has pros and cons in business. His biggest takeaway: Use your social media presence as a unified front for your personal brand. How do you draw the line between a personal and professional social media presence?

For me, I find myself speaking in a different cadence in my personal vs. professional posts. My professional posts embody what one would consider a post that mirrors that of something found in a social media marketing content calendar. I am so used to writing content optimized for brands that my professional brand online is similar in its structure and cadence. Comparatively, my personal posts almost always align with a pop culture reference. For example, I saw Frozen 2 last night with some friends. Olaf, the talking snowman chock-full of pop culture references, found himself lost in the woods during one of the best scenes of the movie. He kept calling out names like "Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven and Samantha." Then jokingly shared he didn’t even know a Samantha.

Here is my tweet.

Have a great weekend!

+ Social Media – Blessing or Curse? [Scott Tiner]

Like so many industries, the AV industry has a robust and valuable community in the social media sphere. Many of us have dozens, if not hundreds of contacts and "friends" that we know only via social media. While we have opportunities to catch up and meet during industry events, including the always popular tweet-ups, the majority of our interaction is virtual.

+ AVEC 2019: Thoughts on Data, Content and an Economic Outlook for ProAV [Sara Abrons]

This month I attended AVEC 2019 in New Orleans — that's AVIXA's AV Executive Conference, held annually in locations around the U.S. In the past, AVEC has been focused mostly on high-level business and management topics, but this one included panels with industry experts on digital signage, collaboration and higher education.
