Yuba City USD Defines 21st Century Learning With BenQ Boards

BenQ Board

COSTA MESA, Calif.  Dec. 19, 2023 — BenQ, an internationally renowned provider of visual display and collaboration solutions, today announced that Yuba City Unified School District (USD) in California installed BenQ Boards in its newly redesigned K-12 classrooms to realize 21st century learning goals. With the BenQ Boards, Yuba City USD is able to drive positive student outcomes and increase opportunities for student choice. The smart boards are also interoperable with the district’s ChromeOS platform, providing an easy-to-use and intuitive experience so teachers feel confident using them and can get started right away.

“The BenQ Board helped us define what 21st century learning truly looks like,” said Florentino “Tino” Guzman, assistant superintendent of educational services at Yuba City USD. “We went from a classic 1960s learning model, with teachers at the front of the room teaching, to now having facilitators where, with all the features of the BenQ Board, they can invite more student voice and ownership and produce positive outcomes. With BenQ Boards, we’ve created a transformative learning environment that works for everyone.”

BenQ Boards Transform Classrooms Into Flexible Learning Environments
BenQ Boards represent a paradigm shift in smart boards. The BenQ Boards are purpose-built for teachers so that they can provide exciting 21st century learning opportunities from the moment they sign on. Encouraging active participation in class while protecting student and teacher health, the germ-resistant BenQ Boards boast BenQ’s Tap ‘N Teach technology, which features one-tap NFC log-in to load lesson materials and interactive teaching apps, cloud storage, settings, and tools instantly and securely. The smart boards also feature a germ-resistant screen, pen, and remote; split windows for multitasking; array microphones; 16W speakers with 16W Dolby Digital Plus surround sound; InstaShare wireless screen sharing; new Eyesafe® technology for reducing blue light emissions; and more.

Teachers can use their BenQ Board as a whiteboard, display, computer, and wireless screen-sharing system thanks to BenQ’s license-free EZWrite 6 software. It’s packed with classroom tools for all subjects, including timers, rulers, protractors, compasses, and more. EZWrite 6 also lets educators save whiteboard sessions in the cloud, allowing them to continue giving lessons at a later date or allowing students to access lessons on any device and refer to them later. They can also open documents and image files directly on the whiteboard to facilitate discussions. To complement the experience, the split-screen windows function enables multiple applications to be opened side by side — with no need to tap between content — making it even easier to conduct lessons and further comprehension. With the InstaShare wireless screen sharing capability, teachers can share their own laptop screen wirelessly as they move around the room, or allow multiple students to share their device screens simultaneously. These built-in features drive a flexible, 21st century learning environment.

“As schools look to educate every student, it’s key that they have the tools that provide flexibility, accessibility, and collaboration,” said Bob Wudeck, senior director of business development at BenQ Education. “Our BenQ Boards are designed to be the new classroom ecosystem that meets teachers where they are while supporting modern and engaging learning opportunities for everyone. Yuba City USD has transformed more than its classrooms — they’ve transformed learning and defined what a future-ready classroom should offer. We’re proud to be a core component of that transformation.”
