The Wireless Microphone Spectrum Alliance (WMSA), formed by Shure in February 2025 to advocate for wireless microphone spectrum access, now includes more than 60 members across the live production, content creation and broadcast sectors.

Initial members include Clair Global, Freeman, Frequency Coordination Group, Second City Sound, Gotham Sound, North Point Ministries, Wisycom, Sound Devices, Radio Active Designs, CP Communications, LMG, Jetwave Wireless, Soundtronics Wireless, DPA Microphones, Spectrum Sound Nashville, Q5X and Studiogenes Oy.

The organization held its first member call on March 24, where leadership introduced the group’s logo and outlined goals and upcoming initiatives. WMSA members also submitted comments in response to a recent FCC Public Notice titled “Delete Delete Delete,” citing concerns over what they view as burdensome or outdated regulations. Specific areas addressed include Part 74 license eligibility and rules governing Special Temporary Authority (STA).

In support of the group’s advocacy efforts, Shure executives met with federal officials in Washington, D.C., on March 31 and April 1. The meetings included representatives from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the White House FIFA Task Force, the White House Communications Agency and members of Congress, including Rep. Brett Guthrie and Rep. Richard Hudson.

Shure representatives included President and CEO Chris Schyvinck, Chief Legal Officer Eric McAlpine, Global Head of Spectrum and Regulatory Affairs Prakash Moorut, and Market Development Manager Ben Escobedo. Henry Cohen, director of spectrum affairs at CP Communications, also joined the FCC discussions to present information on wireless audio coordination at the 2025 Super Bowl.

WMSA was established to represent a wide range of wireless microphone stakeholders and to advocate for continued access to RF spectrum in the TV-UHF band, which is commonly used in live productions, events, houses of worship and broadcast operations.
