Yesterday, at a reception for the press sponsored by one of the industry’s largest display manufacturers, we overheard a conversation that perfectly demonstrates why WE (at rAVe) do NOT want to be called aProAV magazine.
What did we hear? Well, the manufacturer was “guaranteed” more editorial coverage and news stories by the print publication if they would commit to advertising with the commercial AV magazine.
WE DON’T DO THAT AND NEVER WILL.
Although many of the traditional print publications in our market don’t consider us a valid publication, we do. Sure, we’re not printing our stuff, we’re not writing stories now (june) for publication in September, we’re not determining magazine thickness and length by advertising space and we’re not guaranteeing our advertisers more (or their competitors less) coverage. But, we think we’re doing a decent job covering theProAV market via rAVe ProAV Edition (www.ravepro.com) bi-monthly. And, we’re doing it with the same number of advertisers we’ve had since 2005. We haven’t added more ad space or more coverage of our sponsors, for that matter, since the beginning. We simply report what we see and add in our opinions.
So, if you like us, spread the word and kep supporting us. And, know, that, unlike at least one Pro print publication, we won’t just write about a company because they advertised with us…
