Waves Audio has introduced two major updates for its eMotion LV1 live mixing console, expanding both hardware capability and software performance. The newly released LV1 80-Channel Expansion option increases any 64-channel LV1 system — including the new LV1 Classic console — to 80 stereo channels, 160 inputs, and 52 buses, while the v16 software update adds a range of workflow and performance improvements.

The new 80-channel expansion allows users to scale their LV1 Classic or modular 64-channel system with minimal configuration changes. The additional buses can be deployed in either Groups mode, providing up to 16 audio groups, or Monitors mode, which supports up to 24 monitor aux sends. The upgrade requires the v16 software and a separate 80-channel expansion license.

“This is exciting news. Eighty stereo channels and 160 inputs inside this compact console means new possibilities,” said front-of-house engineer Ken “Pooch” Van Druten, who is using the LV1 Classic console on Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson’s U.S. tour. “I would seriously take this small console out on arena tours. This upgrade goes to show how committed Waves are to keep growing the LV1 platform.”

Alongside the expansion, Waves’ new v16 software update delivers improved DSP efficiency, refined Aux Send Flip functions, new Scenes and Recall-Safe filters, and user-defined shortcuts. The update is free for all LV1 Classic users.

Key enhancements in eMotion LV1 v16 include:

  • Enhanced DSP efficiency: Greater processing power from the existing DSP unit.
  • Scenes and Recall-Safe filters: Per-channel control over what parameters are recalled or locked across scenes.
  • New user keys and shortcuts: Customizable control for faster workflows.
  • Aux Send Flip improvements: Expanded access and better visual control in all windows.
  • Additional updates: Improved session import, routing navigation, and plugin search, plus refined visual indicators for cue and solo functions.

Waves said these updates make LV1 “bigger, faster, and more powerful than ever,” providing users with enhanced flexibility for live and studio environments.
