ViewSonic introduced a high definition “”Made for iPod” DLP front projector. The PJ258D lets users project video downloaded to the iPod using the incorporated ViewDock. This is a portable model, weighing fewer than four pounds, so users can easily store it when not in use and take it to a friend’s house.

The docking station connects the iPod directly so there’s no need for a computer. It also charges the iPod while docked. The projector itself is specified at 1024 x 768 XGA resolution, 2000 lumens and 2000:1 contrast ratio.

Pricing was not yet announced.

ViewSonic also announced five new cross-over projectors with an incredible starting price point of $399. The PJ503D, PJ506D and PJ556D are priced at $399, $699 and $899. The 1500 lumen PJ503D and the 2000 lumen PJ506D are specified at 800 x 600 SVGA native resolution, while the 2000 lumen PJ556D is specified at 1024×768 XGA.

The PJ588D, $1,199, is specified at 3,000 lumens, 2000:1 contrast ratio and 1024 x 768 XGA native resolution.

Finally, the PJ358 LCD projector is specified at 2,000 lumens and 1024 x 768 XGA resolution and is priced at $899.
