Utah Manufacturers Association Honors Wilson Electronics
SALT LAKE CITY – Sept. 19, 2013 – St. George-based Wilson Electronics (www.wilsonelectronics.com), North America’s leading manufacturer of cellular signal boosters,was honored by the Utah Manufacturers Association (UMA) with a Manufacturing Best PracticesAward.
Wilson representatives accepted the award for Continuous Improvement during the UMA’s annual Utah Manufacturing Summit held recently at the Salt Lake Community College.
“This award validates the commitment we made as an organization earlier this year to implement operational excellence into our production processes,” said Don Blohm, Wilson’s Chief Operating Officer. “We’re proud to be recognized by the UMA. This accomplishment is a direct result of the dedication and hard work of every person on our operations team.”
Among the manufacturing improvements Wilson has implemented this year:
- Setting up a single piece flow production line for high volume products that
has reduced average manufacturing throughput time by more than 80 percent. - Started implementation of a demand-pull based inventory system that has
significantly reduced stock-outs and parts shortages. - Separating production into three volume based flow lines, improving on-time
deliveries and production efficiencies on all three lines. - Provided training in operational excellence techniques to a broad range of
employees at all levels in the organization.
