Topical Humor
AV is serious business.
That’s why it’s often helpful to use levity brighten the mood.
I joked around a lot back when I worked in retail. I still do in truth.
My favorite joke when it came to the outdoor landscaping speakers that look like rocks was to tell customers “but you can only play rock music on them!”
Once, I was standing in front of one of our room settings talking to a client about something or other. In the background was a brand new 50-inch plasma TV.
That week a retrospective special edition Beatles DVD boxed set had been released. That’s what was playing on the TV, some old black and white footage of the Beatles from the early 1960s.
“So that TV is nine grand, eh?” my client interjected, hooking his thumb at the TV in the background.
“Yep” I replied. “It’s another three thousand if you want the color model.”
He nodded once, thoughtfully, and the look on his face said it all. The conversation turned back to the original matter.
I let him go on believing it for another minute, then I let him off the hook. “I’m joking” I reassured him, “it’s a black and white DVD.”
