Tightrope Media System Delivers Government-Focused Signage and Transcription Service, MediaScribe
Tightrope Media Systems has begun shipping MediaScribe, a media accessibility and transcription service designed to improve access to government meetings. MediaScribe provides real-time text transcriptions and translations, which can be displayed on on-premise screens, personal mobile devices, and cable channels.
MediaScribe is a hybrid solution that integrates a hardware interface with cloud-powered AI services for a streamlined workflow. Live meeting footage is ingested into the on-premises 2 RU gateway appliance via SDI. Using Gigabit Ethernet, Cablecast’s cloud-based captioning engine applies automatic speech recognition (ASR) to convert speech into text cost-effectively.
With three SDI outputs, MediaScribe can deliver multiple display configurations:
- Closed captions can be inserted into live broadcasts via downstream systems.
- On-premises transcriptions can be displayed on dedicated screens in meeting chambers.
- Open captions can be shown on displays in areas where audio is unavailable.
- Captions can be routed through standard AV equipment or converted to HDMI for standard displays.
MediaScribe includes a mobile captioning option, allowing residents to scan a QR code and access real-time captions and translations on their personal devices without requiring an app download or special network setup.
The system supports real-time in-room translations in 72 languages and broadcast translations in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, and Dutch. Users can store custom I/O and language configurations, enabling seamless transitions between different meeting types. Additionally, custom vocabulary settings allow for accurate transcription of street names, public figures, and other unique terms.
MediaScribe records full video, audio, transcriptions, and translations, serving as a primary or backup recording system for broadcast workflows. After meetings, users can download assets in multiple formats, including full video, audio-only, and transcripts, ensuring versatile access across platforms and archives.
