Theory Audio Design announced it is now shipping its latest Automator software update, offering faster and more flexible setup of surround sound systems on the company’s 8-channel DLC-250.8 loudspeaker controller platform.

The new Automator software enables integrators to deploy surround sound configurations — up to 7.1 or 5.1.2 — using either Theory or third-party loudspeakers. The update brings speed and precision to installations by running a five-step configuration wizard through a connected PC, eliminating the need for microphones, calibration cables or manual tuning.

At the center of Theory’s audio ecosystem is the DLC-250.8 loudspeaker controller, a device that combines multiple technologies into a single 1U chassis. It functions as a multi-channel DSP processor, high-power amplifier, bass manager, and loudspeaker processor — all with TCP/IP control and Wi-Fi connectivity. Each unit delivers up to 250 watts per channel with intelligent power sharing and a full DSP matrix.

The new Automator IP software streamlines the system setup process, allowing integrators to configure complex surround systems in approximately 15 minutes. Features include optimized bass management, power allocation, and full support for third-party speakers.

The DLC-250.8 also integrates proprietary DSP processing developed by Theory to enhance precision and performance across its speaker and subwoofer lines. The software update enhances the platform’s existing capabilities, positioning it as a robust option for high-end residential and professional AV installations.
