This year’s Zoomtopia was filled with innovations and demonstrations surrounding Zoom Workplace. The panel on Zoom Workplace’s journey to an AI-first work platform focused on the upcoming launch of AI Companion 2.0, which is set to launch in late October 2024, and its potential to revolutionize the workplace. With over 100 enhancements since its launch in September 2023, AI Companion is designed to streamline tasks, boost productivity, and help businesses achieve their goals.

AI Companion 2.0: Transforming Productivity

Robin Bunevich, product marketing manager at Zoom AI, emphasized that we are in the middle of a significant shift in how we work. AI is becoming increasingly essential in day-to-day tasks, making them easier to achieve and allowing workers to focus on what matters. AI Companion 2.0 aims to serve as an assistant that works across Zoom’s workplace and business services. It helps users manage meetings, tasks, and communications, suggesting ice breakers, creating meeting summaries, and even drafting follow-up emails, all while the meeting is still taking place.

Zoom’s AI Companion offers 40% faster responses to in-meeting questions compared to Microsoft Copilot, and was voted as the best in results and usability by G2 in Summer 2024.

Bo Yan, head of AI products at Zoom, went into detail about the platform’s three pillars: a federated AI stack, an augmented work experience, and a connected user experience. These pillars enable AI Companion to understand the full context of the user’s workflow and transform that understanding into action steps, from tracking deliverables to summarizing important tasks.

During the event, they also announced the launch of the AI Companion add-on, which will allow for further customization of features, helping businesses meet their unique needs. Whether it’s helping employees stay on top of work or creating a more intuitive, natural work environment, Zoom’s AI Companion aims to be a personal assistant designed to elevate both professional and personal productivity.
