The rAVe [Publications] 2009 HomeAV Products of the Year

Here are our awards for what we think are the TOP products of 2009 in the HomeAV market.

  • Da-Lite’s 3D Virtual Black / Virtual Grey Screens: Wowing the entire CEDIA show, this new 3D screen technology will lead the 3D revolution that will start in 2009.
  • LG’s BD300 Blu-ray/Netflix Player: The combination of a Blu-ray player and connectivity to Netflix (the leading on-line and DVD mail order service) make it THE ULTIMATE home theater component for 2009. A few other companies have now followed suit and all the smart ones will.
  • Epson’s PowerLite Pro Cinema 7500UB 3LCD Projector: This will be the most integrated front-screen home theater projector in the market for 2009.

  • Mitsubishi LaserVue: This will be the rear-screen projector that everyone who goes to Best Buy to see it will want!
  • Sharp’s Limited-Edition Aquos LCD TVs: These will be the LCDs everyone WANTS in 2009 – but production is limited, so the want might not turn into a have.
  • Sharp’s AQUOS BD Series: These are THE BEST flat-screen LCDs on the market — and they integrated with a built-in Blu-ray disc player too.
  • Extron’s RGB-HDMI 300: The need for a high-quality Component Video to HDMI scaler has existed for years! And, now Extron’s got one. This will take any gaming system and allow it to be connected to your HDMI input on your receiver while even allowing you to scale it up to 1080.
  • Sony’s ES Receivers: The new 2009 line of Sony ES Receivers will be the most integrated home theater receiver of the year. The flagship STR-DA6400ES has six HDMI inputs (including one on the front, yea!), two HDMI outputs and even a 3rd output (Cat5e).
  • Digital Projection’s Titan RP97: This is the Ultimate Home Cinema projector. The 1080p native, 3-chip DLP projector is 6,000 ANSI lumens, a true 2000:1 contrast ratio and is built on the platform of the Titan 1080p-500 – it’s what is in most movie studio directors’ and producers’ homes to review dailies!
  • Crestron’s DigitalMedia System: This is a whole-house HDMI distribution system that includes an integrated Crestron control system and the ability to route any HDMI input to anywhere via Cat5e or Fiber.
