The DaVinci Group to Wow ISE with a Double Dose of Innovation

divinciiseOntario, CA – January 19, 2016 – The DaVinci Group, Inc. (TDG), an industry-leading manufacturer of superior quality custom integration solutions, has created an all-new architectural in-ceiling speaker optimized for shallow-depth mounting situations that will, for the first time, incorporate the company’s proprietary STT™ Stereo Tweeter Technology. The NFS-61-5CMSTT delivers an amazing single-point stereo sonic performance that rivals other companies normal depth models – and does it in an incredibly thin speaker that is less than 50mm thick.

Integrators regularly run into situations where they are asked to install a distributed audio system in a structure that was built using a type of construction material that limits the available depth in which to install an in-ceiling/in-wall speaker. To address this situation some brands in the industry have developed thinner speakers. But the reality is that these models are often just chopped down regular-series speakers – a reality that not only reduces the depth of the unit, but downgrades the sonic performance of the speaker at the same time.

Limited Depth Mounting, Full Depth Sound

The DaVinci Group engineers set out to address this challenge and to design a thin-profile speaker that does what seems to be impossible – perform like a high-quality, full-depth speaker in a design that is 50mm thick. The only way to do this was to throw out conventional or stock speaker components, and engineer new ones with material and stiffness specifically optimized for this speaker. A thinner speaker in a smaller enclosure means less air volume which is a drag on speaker performance. By engineering the NFS-61-5CMSST with new suspension elements and carefully balancing the requirements of the new spider, surround, cone weight & thickness, TDG engineers accomplished the impossible by creating a speaker that requires less than 50mm mounting depth, yet approaches the performance of full-depth models.

STT™ – Bringing  High-Performance to Single-Point Stereo Speakers

Perhaps an even more prevalent challenge for integrators is that they often need to position only one speaker to cover a zone or area that can reproduce both the left- and the right-channels of a stereo signal. Here too, most brands install a speaker that has one woofer with two tweeters directly next to each other. In these designs, one tweeter reproduces the left-channel, while the other tweeter reproduces the right-channel. The reality is that the waveform emanating from each tweeter collides with the waveform of the other, causing non-linear waveform compression and disruption – resulting in an audible degradation of the sound quality.

Engineers at The DaVinci Group solved this issue when they invented their STT™ Stereo Tweeter Technology. By utilizing a special tweeter with dual voice-coils – one for the left-channel and one for the right-channel, both on the same tweeter – TDG single-point stereo speakers are able to deliver a full stereo reproduction with no distortion degrading the combined waveform. The result is a much higher-performance speaker that sounds audibly better…even to the untrained ear.

One Speaker, Two Technologies

Now, for the first time, TDG engineers have combined these two innovations – a high-performance thin-profile speaker – with the industry’s most innovative single-point stereo technology, its STT™ Stereo Tweeter Technology. Now integrators can confidently install a higher-performance single-point stereo speaker in a thin-profile installation.

“Integrators told us that although low-depth mounting situations are a subset of their overall installations, up to now, most solutions have been challenging to install and disappointing in sound quality,” said Jeff Francisco, President of The DaVinci Group, Inc. “This disappointment is multiplied when the installation calls for a single-point stereo speaker, which often has its own problems. TDG engineers have created the perfect solution for these situations with our new NFS-61-5CMSTT speaker offering integrators a superior performing thin-mount single-point stereo solution, with our exclusive STT Stereo Tweeter Technology.”

ISE Attendees Can See It For Themselves – Booth #R-128

The DaVinci Group will be showing the all-new NFX-61-5CMSTT at the ISE Show in Amsterdam in February, along with other selected products from the company’s extensive catalog of more than 120 products.

We would encourage all The DaVinci Group dealers – and the press – to attend the Integrated Systems Europe Show from February 9-12, 2016 in Amsterdam, at the RAI Exibition and Convention Centre, Netherlands. And while there, be sure to visit The DaVinci Group and President Jeff Francisco in their booth in the Residential Solutions section of the hall, Booth #R-128.
