The Daily Raff: CEDIA Expo/Commercial Integrator Expo 2023 Day 1 Thoughts
Hi, everyone! I’m so excited to provide you with my thoughts on Day One of CEDIA Expo/Commercial Integrator Expo 2023! What a first day it’s been! I have only a few things to leave you with today because it was my day I haven’t had the most time to walk the show floor, but I have a general vibe and idea of how the rest of the show is going to go so today I’ll focus on giving you those.
First thing is first. From everything I’ve heard (attendees and manufacturers alike), Commercial Integrator Expo is a success! Companies that previously haven’t sent people to this show have sent representatives, because now there is a pathway from commercial to the residential side of the show. I’ve seen more light commercial products than ever before. From hotel applications to restaurants and bars — I have a feeling this is going to be the show to come to for the best tech to integrate in those types of markets.
Something else Gary told me to look out for was AI in every form or fashion — and that a lot of it would be just a marketing term. Personally, I haven’t seen so much of that yet, but I’ve spent most of today in the Commercial Integrator Expo section and in the residential audio section.
I will say, the education at these two shows has been really awesome. I was lucky enough to moderate a panel over at the CIX stage, and we had such a great time discussing how emerging technologies will affect ProAV. We covered everything from AR/MR/VR/XR to AI to virtual production and more.
Privacy has been at the forefront of the discussion surrounding emerging tech and #AI.

A few favorite products of today:
The LG StanbyME GO — a literal display in a briefcase that you can carry around with you! With a 27-inch diagonal, you will love taking this bad boy around town. I don’t know where I would need to go and bring this with me, but we can figure it out.
The Samsung Frame — with many new frame options. So now you don’t have to have super modern-looking furniture in order for the Frame to look good in your house. (It’s due to a partnership with another company but I thought this was super cool!) Watch this part of my show floor tour today to see how I pretty much yanked someone from Samsung into the video and made me talk about it.
I think that’s about all I’ve got for you today. Don’t forget to look at all our CEDIA Expo coverage on this microsite and all of our Commercial Integrator Expo coverage on this microsite.
