Telycam has announced the Explore XE, a 4K PTZ camera with phase detection autofocus and 20x optical zoom. The Explore XE delivers 4K video at 60 frames per second, which can be output over HDMI or NDI HX3, and 4K at 30 fps is available via USB Type-C. A 3G-SDI interface provides 1080p60 video, scaled from the 4K image. The camera supports external audio sources through a mini-XLR input with phantom power or a 3.5mm analog input.

FreeD protocol support transmits pan, tilt, zoom and focus data for integration with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) production systems. A built-in variable ND filter and threads for external ND filters allow the Explore XE to adapt to various lighting conditions. Other features include AI-powered auto-tracking, local recording to a microSD card, dual tally lights and PoE+ support.
