Tablets, iPads and touch screens. Oh my!

alysephoto2Tablets. iPads. Apps. Touch screens. Table screens. They’re all here at ISE 2012 in all forms, shapes and sizes. In Hall 7 Polytouch World had a booth set up with life size tablets and touch screen table tops hosting two new innovative apps that pulled on my heart strings: a drink mixer and a shopping assistant.

The first app was displayed on a tablet with software that gave you the opportunity to drag and drop bottles of liquor, fruits, and mixers into the main space of the screen that created your drink of choice. It made the recipe you created and gave you tips and tricks along the way. You were then able to buy the alcohol choices you made using e-commerce. It would be even cooler if the app actually bottled the drink you created and you could add that to your cart and purchase it from the tablet. I made a strawberry banana vodka drink. Yum!

Another tablet hosted software that allowed users to look through a retailers catalog in a store. It could be placed in the front of the store to make the shopping experience easier for the consumer by allowing them to see what is in the store at a glance before they get inside and have to look through all of the aisles to try and find their size and color selection. It also allowed you to drag and drop items onto an avatar do that you could create an outfit. Accessory suggestions appear on the bottom, as well do you know exactly what you should add to your shopping list. Imagine if the tablet was also about to locate exactly where in the store the item, size, and color you want. A store like Forever 21 would definitely benefit from something like this. In fact even turning it into an app you could download on your smartphone would be awesome. I can’t even try and count how many tops I’ve seen people wear from Forever 21 or have seen on the website that I just can’t find in the store given the set up and nature of the store’s atmosphere.

All we need to do next is combine the delicious fruity drinks and shopping and women everywhere would be spending much more money.
