Sunfire Intros Small, Powerful Sub
Sunfire recently debuted its Atmos subwoofer, what the company says is the smallest and most powerful sub in its class. It features a 6.5” woofer paired with a new asymmetrical cardiod surround that allows for more than 1.5” of excursion—that means plenty of room for the 6.5” driver, reducing distortion and increasing fidelity and reliability. It has a 1400-watt (!!) amplifier to power the sub and an aluminum cabinet.
Not only does the Atmos has an auto-room equalizer circuit that automatically adjusts the sub’s response to best suit room acoustics, it also has a footprint of less than 10 square inches. Two subs can be paired with a single wire though master/slave connectors. The Atmos is scheduled to begin shipping in Q2 2011 on a limited basis.
