Sony May Not Be Called Sony Anymore
Sony has announced that it will spin-off its video and audio business units as separate companies – but we don’t know yet if it will be called Sony. Here’s the BBC story on the future of the company.
Looking to profit $3.3 Billion U.S. by March 2018, Sony plans to become a “service” company with its film, theater and entertainment divisions using the Sony brand.
Sony still plans to be in the AV business, however, but will own a separate company (not yet names or known if it will carry the Sony moniker) that makes and distributes the TV’s to consumers and monitors and projectors to ProAV integrators as well as professional audio gear through distribution. Most analysts say that Sony will no longer be in the tablet or mobile phone business.
