Sony AV Tech Expo: Exploring Innovation Across Visual, Control and Spatial Technologies

I recently had the chance to attend the Sony AV Tech Expo in San Diego, hosted at its headquarters (which is stunning, by the way). The two-day event brought together industry pros, creators and tech leaders, and gave them hands-on experience with Sony’s latest tech: professional displays, spatial reality, device management, remote control and more.
To recap the event, Sony featured the expo as part of one of its Tech Tuesday sessions, highlighting major takeaways and offering deeper insights directly from product managers. You can rewatch the full Tech Tuesday session below.
Because there were so many demos and new products at the show, I broke everything down into key themes to help you easily explore the technologies that matter most to you. Sony also created a series of short videos — each highlighting a specific innovation — and I’ve compiled them into a YouTube playlist at the bottom of this article. (To navigate the playlist, click the three horizontal lines with a play icon in the top-right corner of the video. That will open a dropdown menu where you can scroll through and select any video you want to watch. You can jump to what interests you most or watch the entire playlist from start to finish.)
Professional Displays and Visualization Tools
You already know and love the Sony Pro BRAVIA lineup. But let me walk you through some of my favorite features, and you’ll get why they’re an industry favorite. One standout was the deep black non-glare coating, designed to reduce reflections and improve visibility in bright spaces like conference rooms with lots of natural light. In the main showroom, the first I saw was Sony’s CLED display, which never fails to impress with its high brightness and vibrant color, making it ideal for immersive environments.
We’re barely scratching the surface here. If you’re unsure which display is right for your project, the Pro BRAVIA Selector Tool makes it easy to find the perfect fit. Just answer a few quick questions, and it recommends the right models for your specific application.
Device Management and Remote Control Solutions
Device management and control were definitely a focus at the event, as Sony continues to build out the capabilities of its Pro BRAVIA lineup. The goal: Make setup and day-to-day operation easier for both integrators and end users. From the IP Control and Cloud API to Stream Deck integration, Sony is offering more built-in tools to streamline control across different environments.
Tools like the Serial Aggregation Tool (SAT) and Device Provisioning platform also stood out for simplifying inventory management and speeding up installation.
AI-Driven Cameras and Auto-Framing
Sony’s AI-powered PTZ cameras — the SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 — received some updates ahead of the upcoming Ver. 3.0 firmware release (expected July 2025). Both models now support enhanced auto-framing capabilities, including the ability to track up to eight participants and limit framing to a predefined area. Other smart features make these cameras even more versatile for classrooms, corporate environments and live production.
Signage, Meeting Room and Software Solutions
Sony is continuing to streamline its signage and meeting room offerings by adding more built-in functionality to its Pro BRAVIA displays. Tools like BRAVIA Signage Free and Meeting Free let you play content or run video calls without external players or processors.
The built-in HTML5 player allows for quick content switching and playback control — right from the display itself. Sony also highlighted its BRAVIA Professional Displays Knowledge Center, a helpful hub for product guides, downloads and support tools.
Spatial Reality and Content Creation Tech
Sony’s Spatial Reality Display also made an appearance — and for good reason. The latest update brings NVIDIA Omniverse integration, making it easier for creators and designers to bring high-quality, real-time 3D content into their workflows.
Additionally, XYN is a new integrated solution combining software and hardware to simplify spatial content creation from start to finish. And for creators on the go, the Monitor & Control app enables wireless camera monitoring and precision control — right from your phone or tablet.
Gaming, Residential and a Walkman Throwback
To round out the experience, Sony spotlighted its consumer and gaming lines. The INZONE series of monitors and headsets brings Sony’s display and audio expertise into esports and PC gaming.
On the residential side, attendees got a closer look at Sony’s premium home cinema gear, built for high-end entertainment spaces. And as a fun throwback, Sony celebrated 45 years of the iconic Walkman with a larger-than-life photo booth that was a hit with attendees.
As promised, here’s the full playlist that breaks each piece of tech down into short videos:
The Sony AV Tech Expo was a great way to see how Sony is pushing forward across multiple categories — whether you’re working in ProAV, content creation, signage or IT. Be sure to check out the full playlist (above) to get a closer look at what’s next from Sony.
