Solid State Logic has introduced the ALPHA 8 studio expander, a 1RU 8-in/8-out AD/DA converter and 18-in/18-out USB audio interface designed for hybrid studio setups.

Built with 32-bit/192 kHz converters, ALPHA 8 offers flexible analog and digital I/O, including ADAT, S/PDIF and Word Clock. It can function as a standalone converter, a USB audio interface, or both simultaneously — supporting multiple routing configurations for modern production environments.

The unit pairs seamlessly with SSL’s recently launched SSL 18 interface but is also compatible with other audio systems. Each analog input and output can be individually calibrated to +9, +18, +20 or +24 dBu, allowing for precise level-matching with outboard gear such as rack processors, mixers and monitor controllers.

Clocking options include Word Clock I/O, ADAT and S/PDIF for stable, jitter-free operation. ALPHA 8 is now available through SSL’s authorized dealers.
