Michigan State University has selected SNA Displays to replace the aging LED video technology at Spartan Stadium, the home of its football program. Construction is underway on new end zone video boards at the 75,000-seat stadium, which marked its 100th anniversary in 2023.

Anthony James Partners served as the owner’s representative, providing design and procurement support for the project. MSU chose SNA Displays to manufacture and supply new videoboards using its 10 mm pixel pitch EMPIRE Exterior LED display technology.

SNA Displays will retrofit several key display elements, including the stadium’s primary scoreboard in the south end zone, two auxiliary scoreboards in the northeast corner, a 4,500-square-foot curved fascia display on the north end, and 172 linear feet of field-level LED ribbon.

The updates will expand the south end zone scoreboard by 18 feet, adding nearly 1,000 square feet of digital display space. SNA Displays is also handling demolition of the existing LED boards, as well as installation of new illuminated channel signage and cladding.

According to MSU’s athletics website, the displays are at the end of their lifespan and are critical to both gameday operations and sponsorship revenue.

Additional stadium modernization efforts include upgrades to structural systems, safety and security enhancements, ADA-compliant renovations, and seating improvements.

“We are thrilled to be back to work at one of college football’s premier venues,” said Barbara Barry, director of sports and live events at SNA Displays. “These upgrades to Spartan Stadium will not only enhance the gameday experience but also increase revenue opportunities through sponsors and donors.”
