SDVoE Alliance Promotes AV-Over-IP on 10G Networks at InfoComm

At InfoComm the SDVoE Alliance will highlight the contributions of member companies NETGEAR  Panduit and Cleerline Technology Group in providing the secure, scalable and reliable network infrastructure needed for true AV/IT convergence.

“To truly converge IT and AV networks, you need 10G infrastructure – it’s here and it’s affordable at under $80 per port, compared to up to $1,000 per port for HDBaseT,” said Justin Kennington, president of the SDVoE Alliance. “Using SDVoE technology on a 10G network, 4K video can be transmitted without compression, leaving more than 1 gigabit per second for data network users.  On top of that, no compression means no latency and no compromise of image quality.  SDVoE technology delivers performance equal to that of a matrix switch, but the organization is left with only one infrastructure to maintain and manage.”

“SDVoE Alliance members bring different perspectives to the SDVoE initiative spanning the entire AV/IT ecosystem and when it comes to infrastructure, NETGEAR, Panduit and Cleerline contribute essential expertise,” said Charles Dobson, director of development for the SDVoE Alliance. “NETGEAR provides switches and storage, Panduit offers end-to-end network infrastructure solutions, and Cleerline supplies easy-to-deploy fiber connectivity.”

“The SDVoE Alliance and its technology finally provide the platform that is necessary to enable AV/IT convergence by using 10G Ethernet hardware to move video with flawless quality and zero latency,” said Laurent Masia, Sr. PLM, Smart & Managed Switches at NETGEAR. “NETGEAR M4300-series switches are configured out of the box for the fastest multicast processing and filtering to make getting an SDVoE system up and running easy, without complex switch configuration. The M4300 series offers a mix of copper and fiber ports to provide the right connectivity for both short- and long-haul distribution.”

“Panduit’s goals of promoting the expansion and standardization of an AV-over-IP solution align with those of the SDVoE Alliance,” said Dennis Renaud, vice president of Panduit’s Enterprise business. “Our high-quality, industry-leading network products and solutions are ideal for the pro AV market, enabling converged IP network infrastructures that are very cost-effective and that can easily grow with organizational needs.”

“Seamless AV and IT over one robust infrastructure depends on components and connectivity that are genuinely integrated from end to end,” said Robert D’Addario, Cleerline president and managing director.  “They also rely on the uncompromised transmission of ever-greater amounts of data between components with an ever-increasing array of specifications and performance characteristics. Our award-winning SSF™ fiber optic connectivity solutions allow integrators to use the most cutting-edge and future-proof connectivity format in any project with minimal training and massive time savings during installation.”

All AV distribution and processing applications that demand zero-latency, uncompromised video can benefit from SDVoE technology, which provides an end-to-end hardware and software platform for AV extension, switching, processing and control through advanced chipset technology, common control APIs and interoperability. SDVoE network architectures are based on off-the-shelf Ethernet switches thus offering substantial cost savings and greater system flexibility and scalability over traditional approaches such as point-to-point extension and circuit-based AV matrix switching.
