All three companies, along with the Zigbee Alliance, recently formed a working group, the Connected Home over IP (CHIP), to foster the universal adoption of the standard by leading smart home manufacturers. SI is actively participating in the CHIP working groups to help deliver an open, inclusive communications standard for the entire smart home industry.
Based on a dynamic mesh topology, the Zigbee 3.0 ecosystem becomes stronger and more resilient as the number of devices on the network expands. SI’s initial North American rollout of Zigbee 3.0 includes its ultra-compact line of Nano indoor shades and Solo screens; others will be added in time.
Differing from traditional two-way RF systems, Zigbee 3.0 is self-healing, has 128-bit encryption and operates 25 times faster than current technologies. Combined, this creates the most robust and secure ecosystem available. Zigbee 3.0 also allows SI products to uniquely communicate over multiple frequencies, which minimizes signal interference for enhanced system reliability.
