Savant Ships New Apple-Based Control System for the Home

The new SmartMedia solution from Savant Systems for the home that controls lighting, climate, security cameras and AV systems is now shipping and Savant is taking it to CES. Previously only targeted at high-end CEDIA-level integrators, Savant is now aiming for the mass consumer. Savant’s SmartMedia packaged solutions, integrated with its energy monitoring solution and offering complete control via Savant Select, uses iPads and iPod touches to control everything from HVAC to lighting to your living room AV system.
As it’s 100 percent Apple-based, this system will appeal to many of the CES’ers as Apple has been one of the most talked about hardware manufacturers in recent years and, although not exhibiting at CES again this year, Apple seems to always have a following and interest – especially in light of the company’s rumored HDTVs set for 2012.
