Savant Donates Power Storage Systems to Underserved Communities via GRID Alternatives
Savant Systems has partnered with GRID Alternatives, a nonprofit focused on renewable energy access and environmental justice, to support communities in Puerto Rico and Mexico. As part of the initiative, Savant will donate Power Storage 20 units, provide technical assistance, and contribute to hands-on training through GRID’s Installation Basics Training (IBT) courses.
Recipients of the systems include a physical therapy center for vulnerable populations, a children’s care home, a hospice for people living with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, a disaster rescue group, and women-owned businesses operating off-grid.
The Power Storage 20 system includes a scalable inverter and Lithium Iron Phosphate battery that offers 20 to 200 kWh of capacity. Paired with Savant’s smart electrical panel, the system can prioritize and shed loads to extend battery runtime in off-grid conditions. The donation aims to reduce power costs, prevent losses from blackouts, and provide reliable energy for essential services.
Savant will also contribute hardware for GRID’s training labs and online courses through Savant University, helping prepare students for careers in clean energy technology.
