Sandy

superstorm-sandyWell, I got through Sandy pretty well here. Connecticut, although hurt badly, had less flooding and is recovering quickly. My place got power back yesterday, just shy of a week. Our friends and neighbors in NY and NJ bore the brunt of the storm, and now it is up to those of us who fared better to do what we can for our neighbors. Sandy has been second only to Katrina in recent memory. In fact, an old friend from New Orleans, who lived through Katrina, was texting me during the storm to check if we were OK. The government, unlike with Katrina, seems to have moved with a purpose I don’t think I have seen before.

But it’s a huge job, involving one of America’s most populous areas, which complicates things. If we a

re going to help, we have to help fast. And, while you all may find other ways to give, let me point out one that works for everybody, always has, and is on the ground right now. The American Red Cross. They were already moving to help long before the storm hit, and haven’t stopped since.

What’s the best way to help fast? Lucky for you, its also the easiest. Call up or log on, and make a donation to the relief effort.
