Russian Manufacturer Polymedia Takes Aim at InFocus MondoPad
Nearly-unknown Russian manufacturer Polymedia thinks it has a better MondoPad than MondoPad originator InFocus with the FlipBox.
Flipbox is a multi-functional, user-friendly interactive display for business meeting rooms from five to 20 attendees. It allows writing and drawing in flip-chart mode, displaying data and demonstrating presentations from flash drives, going on-line and holding video conferences without the need for a separate computer or videoconference terminal.
Flipbox offers a high resolution screen (1920×1080), built-in stereo loudspeakers, a camera with 720p resolution, integrated Wi-Fi, USB ports for connecting Flash drives and an Intel-based processor with a proprietary software shell.
In a unique twist, it’s the first third-party product in the world capable of driving video to it via Apple’s Airplay. Lots of companies use AirPlay to drive wireless audio, but, up until now, only Apple’s own iPads and iPhones (and MacBooks) could send wireless video to an Apple TV connected to an HDTV display. But Polymedia has integrated wireless audio and video to its FlipBox without an Apple TV — it receives it natively, and wirelessly.
