Rants and rAVes — Episode 881: An AV-over-IP Report from NETGEAR — This is a Must-Listen; Includes Data!

NETGEAR’s Laurent Masia, Director of Product Line Management Managed Switches, took less than 45-seconds of today’s 10+ minute podcast to talk about products and spent the rest talking about technology, the status of the evolution of AV-over-IP, the market forces and the total number of AV-over-IP units shipped – yes, he gives you a glimpse into the numbers on today’s pre-InfoComm podcast.

NETGEAR is the hub of the AV-over-IP movement and is standards agnostic as their switches work with nearly all of the AV-over-IP platforms – SDVoE, H.264, H.265, 1G JPEG 2000, VLC, 10G SDVoE, Pure 3, IntoPix, etc. Laurent explains where the market is now, talks about Av-over-IP market share data and he projects the future of AV-over-IP including what percentage of the market he thinks will be 1G vs 10G routing of signals by the end of 2020.

But, he did spend a few seconds launching their new 16-port copper (with and without PoE) switch as well as their new 24-port fiber switch (both here: https://www.netgear.com/landings/proavm4300/)! And, both will be at InfoComm 2019 in their booth 4286 as well as in the SDVoE booth at 1143. Listen as Laurent is awesome!
