Rants and rAVes — Episode 856: Matrox Will Bring AV-over-IP Portfolio to InfoComm 2019; Talks SMPTE 2110 Standard
Matrix is solidly being the AIMS (Alliance for IP Media Solutions) and their interest in the SMPTE ST 2001 standard for AV-over-IP interoperability. Matrox’s Director of Sales, Samuel Recine, joined Gary on his podcast today for an in-depth discussion on why he believes the SMPTE ST 2110 is the best path fro the commercial AV industry. It’s already being used in the broadcast industry to send 4K video (and audio, control ethernet, USB) via networks from 1G to 40G (uncompressed). Although Matrox has H.264 AV-over-IP streaming video products, they are awaiting a “standard” to be adopted for 1G and higher video over IP.
