Putnam County School System Upgrades Central Offices With Philips Digital Signage From PPDS
The Putnam County School System (PCSS) has upgraded its central office communications with new digital signage powered by Philips Professional Displays, a solution provided by PPDS and installed by Howard Technology Solutions.
Located in central Tennessee, PCSS is one of the state’s largest school districts, serving more than 12,000 students across 22 schools and employing over 1,700 staff. Its central offices support day-to-day operations for the district, including meetings, events, and collaborations with external partners.
To address aging and inefficient signage, the district sought a flexible, future-ready solution that could display dynamic content across common areas, conference rooms, and its main boardroom. The new system needed to accommodate everything from live event feeds to meeting agendas and presentation materials.
Working with AV integrator Howard Technology Solutions, PCSS selected 10 Philips Signage 3000 Series (Q-Line) displays in sizes ranging from 55 to 98 inches. The displays offer 4K resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and can be mounted in landscape, portrait, or tabletop orientations, with tilt capabilities up to 45 degrees.
Powered by a built-in Android system-on-chip (SoC) controller, the signage supports secure remote management through the Philips Wave platform. That feature allows content to be updated remotely and in real time, even across campuses, enabling streamlined communication for both in-person and virtual meetings.
“The flexibility of the Philips Wave platform ensures that the district can continuously evolve and adapt its content to meet the needs of various events,” said Patrick VanTreese, director of business development at PPDS. “With the implementation of Philips digital signage, the Putnam County School System has not only improved communication within its district, it has also set a new standard for how educational offices can leverage technology to engage staff, students, and external partners more effectively.”
Since installation, PCSS staff have reported improved engagement, a more professional environment, and increased efficiency. Team members — even those with limited tech experience — have quickly adopted the system’s controls, allowing for seamless meeting setups and confident presentations.
“The new Philips digital signage solution has truly transformed our ability to communicate,” said Sam Brooks, future ready supervisor at PCSS. “Not only have we enhanced the presentation of information, we have also made our meetings more engaging and effective for all, whether in person or virtual.”
Johnny Sloan, technology supervisor, added, “The flexibility and user friendliness of the Philips Wave platform has made it incredibly easy to manage our digital signage content, giving us complete control over the displays and creating dynamic content that better engages both in-person and virtual participants.”
“With Philips Professional Displays we have enabled a seamless experience where anyone can enter our meeting room and, within just a few minutes, have their presentation ready to go,” said Corby King, director of schools at PCSS. “The straightforward accessibility and user friendliness of the control system not only saves time but also allows individuals to lead meetings confidently, even if they lack prior experience.”
