Todd Bouman Takes Over as CEO of Proto

Proto PR ImageProto has named Todd Bouman as its new CEO, with founder and inventor David Nussbaum transitioning to chair, the company announced.

Bouman, formerly president, CEO and chair of Sharp/NEC Display Solutions, Americas, was selected by Nussbaum to lead Proto’s next phase of growth. At Sharp/NEC, he implemented a strategy that doubled profits and strengthened the company’s position in the display technology market.

Bouman will focus on expanding Proto’s reach in the hologram technology sector, drawing on experience from Samsung, HP and Sharp/NEC. Nussbaum will continue to lead innovation, partnerships and fundraising efforts.

The leadership change follows a record year for Proto, which saw increased revenue, the launch of its latest hologram devices — the Proto Luma and M2 — and growing adoption of its AI tools across industries including healthcare, education, retail and entertainment. The company plans to launch a Series B fundraising round in the second quarter.

“As the founder, Proto is like a child to me,” Nussbaum said. “Entrusting it to someone else wasn’t a decision I took lightly. I needed absolute confidence that the new leader had the experience and proven ability to take my vision for Proto to the next level. Todd Bouman is that person.”

Bouman said he is eager to build on Proto’s momentum.

“Proto is poised as an industry leader to revolutionize the way we interact with digital content,” he said. “I am thrilled to lead this extraordinarily innovative company as it scales its transformative technology to new heights.”

Proto has expanded its reach in recent months, including the launch of the first hologram ad network at Simon malls and the introduction of doctor-patient hologram consultations. The company continues to grow partnerships with major brands, sports leagues and media organizations as it seeks to solidify its position in immersive technology.
