Procella Expands P5 Speaker Family With P5V Slimline and P5iW In-Wall

procella-p5v-white-no-grill-front-perspective-642x1200Stockholm, Sweden and Venice, California – December 12, 2016 – Procella Audio, manufacturer of high-performance high-definition speaker systems for home and professional cinema and music applications, announced today the introduction of two new models in the P5 family of compact, high-output two-way loudspeakers. The P5V is a slim and tall (or wide, depending on orientation) speaker suitable for wall placement, especially next to flat-panel displays. The P5iW is an in-wall design that is easy to install and offers both black and white fabric grilles to blend into any décor. Both speakers feature a pro audio 5.25 inch woofer and, unique to the price category, a one inch high-frequency pro compression driver mounted on a Procella-designed constant directivity waveguide for high output levels and even coverage of sound.

“Expanding the P5 platform to include both on-wall and in-wall variations was a logical step after the successful launch of the original P5,” stated Procella founding director Anders Uggelberg. “Our goal with the P5 was to make Procella performance more affordable and to create speakers with greater cosmetic appeal for use in living rooms and environments other than custom home theaters. Reception to it was so positive that we were encouraged to develop and produce both the in-wall P5iW and the slimline on-wall P5V. With a wide range of applications, from main speakers next to a flat panel to height channels in an Atmos system, these new speakers perform extremely well at an affordable price.”

P5V Slimline

The bookshelf speaker profile of the original version of the P5 is well suited for shelf or stand placement, but its depth is less than ideal for wall mounting. For such applications, especially next to flat-panel displays, the P5V has a slim and softly sculptured enclosure. At only 4.1 inches / 104mm deep, 18.5” / 470mm high and 7.5” / 190mm wide, its overall proportions complement Multiple mounting options include VESA 100 brackets and multiple keyholes to enable both horizontal and vertical orientation. Its 80 degree circular waveguide ensures identical sound regardless of how the speaker is mounted.

P5iW in-wall

Whether used for main or for surround channels, the P5iW delivers full Procella performance while disappearing into the room decor. Its sonic performance is identical to the P5 and P5V, using the same drivers in an MDF back box enclosure. Both black and white fabric magnetic grilles are included to fit any environment. Procella’s wing-mounting system makes installation easy and quick. Its input terminals are on the removable front baffle that contains the drivers and crossovers, providing easy access for service. It can be wall mounted either horizontally or vertically, and its 80 degree circular radiation pattern is ideal for ceiling mounts. The P5iW fits in standard U.S. walls and is 11.8” / 300mm wide by 18.5” / 470mm tall.

Both the P5V and P5iW use a Procella Identical Voice™ crossover that provides flat phase response and ultra-low group delay. High frequencies are reproduced by a high-performance professional audio compression driver mounted on a newly designed Procella constant directivity waveguide. This waveguide produces a circular radiation pattern of 80 degrees above 2.2KHz, enabling users to achieve excellent performance with the speaker mounted in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, even when mounted high above listeners ears as in Atmos and Auro-3D Audio system height channels. The high-output 5.25 inch woofer driver has a 25mm voice coil and is capable of very high output levels. The Identical Voice concept assures a timbre match for seamless envelopment and 360 degree imaging when the P5iW or P5V are used as a surround speaker with any of the other Procella loudspeaker models.
