PMA Announces Top-Selling Projector Models During October

Pacific-Media-0610Pacific Media Associates (PMA) has posted its recent results to the “Top Selling Projectors” area of the company’s website. Each month, PMA collects monthly sell-through data from leading North American projector dealers, retailers, web resellers and distributors.

Each month, Pacific Media Associates posts the Top 5 Projector Lists for the following product categories:

High-End (4,000+ lumens) Projectors — The October 2012 results showed that four of the “Top 5” selling high-end models, by unit volume, were wide XGA projectors. The number one, three, four and five spots were filled by the Epson PowerLite 1945W, the Mitsubishi WD620, the Epson PowerLite 1940W and the Epson PowerLite Pro G5650W, respectively. Epson also claimed the number two spot with their PowerLite Pro G5450WU, the lone Wide UXGA model on the High-End list. This Top 5 list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Pro A/V Projector Tracking Service sample, which is made up of North American dealers and integrators

Mainstream (1,000 to 3,999 lumens) Projectors — For the Mainstream category, October’s “sweet spot” was XGA models in the 2,500 – 2,999 lumen range. Four of the Top 5 models here were XGA projectors, with the NEC NP-V260X, the InFocus IN114, the Epson PowerLite 93+ and the NEC NP-M260X taking the number one, two, four and five spots, respectively. The SVGA InFocus IN112 completed the list, filling the fourth spot. This Top 5 list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Distributor Projector Tracking Service sample, which is made up of North American distributors.

New Era / Pico and Personal (sub-1,000 lumens) Projectors — The October results showed that three of the Top 5 selling models, by unit volume, were wide XGA personal projectors, with two 480p pico projectors rounding out the Top 5. Optoma took the numbers one, two and four top-selling projectors spots, with the 480p Optoma PK-320 and 480p Optoma PK-201 models in first and second place, and the wide XGA Optoma ML500 filling the fourth spot. Vivitek’s WXGA Qumi Q2 landed in the number three spot, and the wide XGA 3M MP410 landed in the fifth spot. This Top 5 list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Retail Projector Tracking Service sample, which is made up of North American retailers and web resellers.
