Planar has introduced the DirectLight Essential Series, a new line of Chip-on-Board (COB) LED video wall displays designed for indoor environments with high ambient light. The series offers a cost-effective entry point into fine pixel pitch LED displays and targets applications in retail, hospitality, corporate, education and broadcast settings.

Available in 27-inch cabinets with pixel pitches of 0.7, 0.9, 1.2 and 1.5 millimeters, the displays feature a 30,000:1 contrast ratio and a 3,840Hz refresh rate. The series is compatible with Planar’s WallDirector Video Controller as well as LED controllers from ColorLight.

The DirectLight Essential Series includes a proprietary driver integrated circuit (IC) engineered for COB technology. The IC addresses brightness and color uniformity by precisely controlling power and data to each LED. LEDs are tested at the wafer level to meet specific brightness, power and color specifications.

The series supports front access installation and is also available in pre-configured Planar DirectLight Essential Complete kits. These all-in-one packages come in 109-inch and 136-inch Full HD, and 163-inch 4K diagonal sizes, designed to reduce installation time and cost.
