Stade Toulousain Rugby Club entertains fans with improved LED video display system

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Oct. 21, 2024 – Daktronics has partnered with Pekason, an audiovisual systems provider in France, to design, manufacture and install a new LED display system for Ernest-Wallon Toulouse Stadium, home of the iconic State Toulousain Rugby Club in Haute-Garonne, France. The two new higher-resolution displays were installed in 2023 to inform and entertain audiences today and into the future.

“Historically, the old screens at this stadium were already Daktronics screens installed in 2008,” says Julien Perie, co-founder of Pekason. “For this renewal, we naturally chose Daktronics’ screens again, as Ernest-Wallon Toulouse Stadium was satisfied with their longevity, extremely low failure rate and product reliability. On our end, we supported the stadium in the technical choice and adaptation, as technologies had evolved significantly over the past 15 years. There have only been positive reactions. For Ernest-Wallon Stadium’s supporters who regularly attend matches, the difference is indeed noticeable.”

Video Display Details

The LED displays replace the previous Daktronics installation from more than 15 years ago to improve the resolution from 23-millimeter pixel spacing to a much tighter 10-millimeter pixel spacing. Located at each end of the stadium, each display measures 4.48 meters high by 8.32 meters wide to deliver larger-than-life imagery to audiences and fans at every live event in the stadium.

The higher resolution of the technology delivers images that are crisp and clear, a noticeable difference in improved visual experience. The displays are capable of variable content zoning so each display can show one large image or multiple zones of content to keep rugby fans informed and engaged in the live action in front of their eyes. This includes live video, instant replays, statistics, game information, graphics, animations and sponsorship messages.

“The new technology brings an amazing experience to a very high-profile customer in Ernest-Wallon Stadium and Stade Toulousain Rugby Club,” said Alain Castelbou, Daktronics France sales manager. “The luxury of the displays matches the famed rugby club that plays here and deserves nothing but the best for their fans. It was great to work with our fantastic partner Pekason to deliver this successful project.”

“This changeset marks the completion of the Digital Signage refoundation project, which enables the marketing and entertainment teams to engage and enhance the fan experience,” said Baptiste Lagurgue, Stade Toulousain’s Chief Information Officer. “Working with Pekason and Daktronics was a high-quality experience. All project stages, from product design to service quality, support, and solution deployment, were managed in accordance with the schedule and with exceptional availability.”

The displays match the stadium’s architecture to ensure a seamless integration and an appearance that is aesthetically pleasing for all in attendance. The technology incorporates industry-leading environmental protection ensuring each display operates as expected for every event.
