Panasonic Connect Drops KAIROS Software Version 1.8; Adds Multiple Core Control and 4:4:4 16-bit Outputs

Panasonic Connect Europe launched the latest software for its KAIROS video production platform. Version 1.8 offers Multiple Core Control functionality, integration with live graphics platforms, and support for a greater number and variety of high, IP-based resolutions. Where previously multiple control panels were required to operate multiple KAIROS Core mainframes, Multiple Core Control enables two KAIROS mainframes to be operated from a single control panel. This allows more video sources to be handled, increasing efficiency, especially at large events.

Version 1.8 also expands internal processing up to 4:4:4 16-bit and outputs up to 4:4:4 12-bit. It also supports an increasingly diverse range of higher-resolution IP-based ST 2110 inputs and outputs, such as 16:9, 16:10, 5:4, and DCI (2K/4K). These can easily accommodate shots of any size, especially when working with large displays, such as LED walls.

Version 1.8 includes support for HTML5, enabling graphics generated by KAIROS Alliance Partners to be entered directly into the KAIROS platform. This makes it easier to use graphics such as scores, statuses and tickers from KAIROS Painter, as there is no need to convert files before importing them into the KAIROS platform.

Version 1.8 also provides increased compatibility with other KAIROS Alliance Partner products, such as SKAARHOJ’s audio-controlled Wave Board, Quick Shot Pro and Quick Shot, and Raw Panel mode.

Panasonic has announced version 3.0 of its firmware for the AV-HSW10 compact live switcher, which includes NDI High Bandwidth mode for the first time. Doubling existing input capacity, NDI High Bandwidth simplifies the operation of NDI-centric systems when connected to Panasonic PTZ cameras and other compatible devices.

Panasonic is also launching firmware version 1.7 for its AV-UHS500 live switcher. This enhances functionality and usability, especially when integrating Panasonic PTZ cameras with other Panasonic products. Available in Q1 CY2025, both firmware updates will enable Panasonic’s live switchers to offer increased flexibility in response to the growing demand for video production and distribution in live entertainment environments, seminars, events, and more.
