Pakedge Shows its C36 Macrocell WAP Controller at ISE 2014

pakedge-c36-0913Pakedge Device & Software will unveil its ground-breaking C36 Macrocell wireless access point (WAP) controller to European installers at this year’s ISE 2014 (Hall 5, Stand S-122). The C36 features automated, “intelligent” configuration tools, making it much quicker and easier for installers to set up and manage every WAP in residential and commercial AV networks, and provides enterprise solutions that are easier to deploy than traditional networking manufacturers.

“Fast and simple wireless network configuration is a top priority for custom installers and commercial AV integrators,” says Nick Phillips, VP of Sales & Marketing at Pakedge. “The C36 is a reliable, all-in-one networking solution which not only reduces the time and complexity of installation but also, once fitted, simplifies and speeds up network managing and maintenance for optimum AV performance. It’s the truly exceptional networking controller that the industry has been waiting for.”

Using automatic access point detection and configuration, the Pakedge C36 enables effortless and immediate WAP configuration on new, existing or growing wireless networks. Once connected, the C36 automatically discovers networked access points, updates them with the latest firmware and sets them up to integrate flawlessly with the rest of the wireless network. At the same time, it balances power, channel settings, and data rates with other devices, and allows installers to define WAP capacity limits for even traffic distribution.

Easy access for configuration, centralized management and remote monitoring is provided by the C36’s highly intuitive, web-based interface. Installers can review and maintain performance for up to 30 WAPs on a network simultaneously. There is no need to apply settings to each

individual access point whilst modifications and firmware updates can be applied to the entire network or to select WAPs, as desired. Each client device can be individually named for easy tracking and management, instead of using the default MAC address, making it extremely simple for the installer to identify laptops, tablets, mobile devices and wireless handsets, or set up a separate guest network, if required.

The C36 controller significantly improves network performance and reliability. Using Macrocell access points, the C36 takes advantage of Pakedge’s SectorMaxxTM technology to increase signal sensitivity, reduce interference and efficiently manage Reduced Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) issues. Meanwhile, the C36 incorporates Pakedge’s SmartwavTM and Tru-StreamTM technologies, lowering latency, improving signal guidance and prioritizing sensitive applications, such as, AV media streaming, on-line gaming and VoIP to automatically reduce buffering, dropped connections and lag.

Designed with the installer in mind, the C36 is a slim, aesthetically attractive 1U sized device for rack mounting on a project. It is a powerful network security product which offers complete integration with the Pakedge suite of wired and wireless networking appliances to bring Wireless Network Harmony. The C36 is also compatible with the company’s BakPak Cloud app which enables access via a smartphone, tablet or laptop. BakPak provides a complete network map based on the C36 wireless ecosystem, allowing reporting and basic maintenance to be completed from anywhere in the world.
